Back in 2012, I attended a writer's retreat with my then publisher, and it was in Tennessee, very close to Gatlinburg.
I fell in love with the mountains and the cabins, and the place we stayed can be found here: https://www.cabinsofthesmokymountains.com/. I was looking to move publishers at the time and wrote a proposal for a series of books set in the Smoky Mountains, focusing on a small town called Ellery, at the base of Ellery peak. I decided that the cabins at the resort would also be central, as well as the small town feel. When it came to titles, I was stuck. Then I gave it a working title of Fireman/Cop because that is exactly what I was writing about. And it stuck. The title of book 1 became The Fireman and the Cop, the second The Teacher and the Soldier, and so on. The original series ended after seven books but is now back under my creative control, and I am now just about to start writing book 8. I have fond memories of my time in Tennessee, not only is the area stunning, but I met a lot of authors I had only spoken with via Facebook, including my awesome co-author Amber Kell.
